100 Mile World Record Attempt Tomorrow (Apr 4)
Update: Waiting for live feed from Kingsburg. When I get it, I’ll share it.
Big news in the ultramarathon world: Tomorrow (Apr 4) at 6am in a small town in Central California, American Record holder Zach Bitter will attempt a sanctioned attempt on Oleg Kharitionov’s World Record for 100 miles.
Watch it here live.
The current record (on a track) was set in London in 2002 and stands at 11:28:03–That’s 400 laps at an average pace of just under 6:53/mile. Let that sink in a little bit.
Zach’s PR is 11:47 (7:04/mile.) Hear our interview with him right after he ran that here.
The race will have a live video feed and be seen exclusively on ultrarunnerpodcast.com. Wish me luck and let’s hope the technology works out!
Other athletes will be running the event, but the tartan track will be closed to the public during the event.
Place: Kingsburg High School
Time: Starts at 6am
How: Watch it live here. I’ll have a new page up as soon as we get the info. Information and updates will also be available on twitter at: @vespapower and @zbitter throughout the day.
