Andy Gohlich – Establishing a First Route on Norman’s 13

Andy Gohlich won an FKT grant earlier this year and announced his intent: He aimed to connect 13 of California’s 15 fourteeners in under 60 hours, an homage to Colorado’s Nolan 14.

I asked Andy about finding possible routes on maps, how he trained, what he brought for gear and fuel, and how his support team would be taking care of him.  That all went fine just before the race and his pacer and crew couldn’t make it and Andy had to adapt to this being a fastback with little planning.

So how did it go? What did he learn, and who does he think is capable of running such a route?
