Brian Rusiecki Interview

Brian just set a wicked new course record at Vermont 100 and he’s heading to the Alps for UTMB next month.

He’s torn up the New England trail scene and loves roots, rocks, technical trails, and mountains, he’s got no coach or organized plan, but Brian loves running hard and it seems to be working out great for him.

He battles a whole slew of allergies and has learned some tough lessons on the trails, and he drops a ton of knowledge on us that we’ll be using very very soon. Definitely a fun interview.

East Coast! Brian is a total bad ass, good to see he got the props he deserves by being featured on the podcast. A few other New England folks certainly worthy of your attention: Ben Nephew who Brian mentioned. He is a totally beast on the ugliest of the ugliest terrain and holds a few ridiculous FKT’s in the White Mountains and beyond, not to mention a handful of big wins and podium finishes. He also recently represented the US in the IAU World Championships. Also the husband wife duo of Kristina and Ryan Welts. Kristina has been pretty much owning the New England scene and has done well nationally and Ryan owns a handful of stunning FKT’s in the region and has won and placed well in multiple ultras over the past few years. All three are sponsored, certified bad ass, and also happen to be really cool people to talk to.

Quick nutrition question. I found it interesting that he cuts dairy out before races but then drinks ensure. Does it work well? What brought you to try it?
