Dakota Jones 2016 Battling the Injury Demons, Pizza, Race Directing, and More.

Dakota Jones Interview – Injuries, Pizza, Stretching, and Staying Relevant as a Sponsored Athlete

Dakota Jones had a tough 2015, battling a persistent injury and yearning to race again.  All the stars aligned in ’16 as his training and patience paid off, pushing him to wins against some tough competitors and even tougher terrain.

Then last week, while leading the Run the Rut Skyrace, Dakota twisted an ankle he’d injured the week before and took a DNF.  Back to square one.  How much time off will this require? What’s his race schedule like?  What exactly does a sponsored athlete think about longevity in the sport, and what does he think about staying relevant to an audience?

We talk pizza, piano playing, race directing, and his love and protection of the mountains.  This is Dakota’s third time on URP.
