The slip on wool blend Topo Athletic Rekovr is designed for active recovery with a massaging OrthoLite footbed. The shoe is intended to be worn without socks, and the 3D wave pattern on the footbed provides neutral stimulation. The Rekovr is perfect for light hiking, walking, and casual use.
The wool blend upper provides excellent moisture wicking and creates a very comfortable shoe. Before reading any information about the shoe, I slipped my feet into them sans socks and was surprised by the comfort of the footbed. I didn’t actually know that the Topo Athletic Rekovr was designed to be worn sockless until I checked out the website information, and I was delighted when I realized that was the intent. The footbed is antimicrobial so the shoe shouldn’t start to stink over time.
Over the last three weeks I have worn the Topo Athletic Rekovr everywhere—dog walking, the office, an easy hike—and I’m absolutely in love with them. The massaging footbed is extremely comfortable, and the upper is soft and breathable. The Rekovr is wide enough that you can really move your toes around, which should also aid in active recovery.
Yes! The Topo Athletic Rekovr is a very unique shoe in that it doesn’t fit into a traditional category. We all have uses for a casual, everyday shoe, and one that builds in active recovery is just a bonus. At $100, this is reasonably priced all around shoe.

I started my love of gear as a climber and as I turned my attention to running I shifted from carabiners, ice tools, and crampons to hydration packs, midsole foam types, compression clothing, and everything in between. After several years of foot injuries, I’m enjoying getting back to my beloved muddy and rocky trails near my home in Portland, Ore. In my work life, I enjoy coordinating an annual Mountain and Ultra Running Camp at the base of Mt. Hood with Yassine Diboun, Amy Sproston, Joelle Vaught, Krissy Moehl and Jeff “Bronco Billy” Browning.
