Ultramarathon and Trail Running News, Wed, Mar 1

New to trail running or coming back after an injury?  Read this and don’t be stupid.  On a similar note, Sarah and I recorded a conversation where we talk about moving up in distance from marathon to ultra and beyond from two very different perspectives. I’ll release it soon.

At last! Something both sides of the aisle agree on: WADA and the IOC suck.

Speaking of PEDs, here are the best excuses of all time.

Interesting: New rules for Ironman events.  Shirts, guides, motors, etc.

Excellent post by Bryon about those “miracle runs” we’ve all had that make running magical.

What this personal trainer is doing to keep the Notorious RBG alive.

Japan is hosting a new 100k that looks beautiful. The website puts a smile on my face too.

Marathon in a parking garage.  Love it! Here’s Kris’ report from this wacky event, and here’s a fun photo montage. One thing I noticed: In the video, the guys at the start push their GPS watches, not recognizing the total hell that large concrete structures play with sat signals.

Strava went down for a few minutes yesterday. Did you hear the collective gasp of people fearful of losing their KOMs and segments?

High mileage and french fries: A few quick questions with Walmsley.

Check out this shoe review of the Topo Terraventure.  I’ve tried three of their shoes now (road, trail, and light racer) and love them all.  If you’re looking for a well priced and designed shoe that has the best qualities from Hoka and Altra (but IMHO is made better), check them out.

Science! Flexibility in runners is overrated.

No ultramarathon content whatsoever, but something most of us would appreciate.

That nonagenarian who barely lost the sprint last week is even more awesome than I thought. He wants a rematch.

The Biebs is hitting the trails again. With another model.  But the same silly tights.

Putting together a crack team of Way Too Cool spectators to help with coverage. If you’ll be in Cool this weekend, shoot me an email if you’d like to help out. Thanks!
