Neversummer was this past weekend and was awesome. RD Pete Stevenson deserves as much of a shout-out as well, and is just as much to blame for tough trail/course choices!

75% finisher rate was an incredible testament to volunteer as well as racer preparation and motivation.
Being a 1st-year race, it will likely have deeper competition in the future, but Ryan Burch’s time is already pretty stout and will be hard to match. The women’s winner has local mountaineering experience.

It’s not flashy and it’s out there. Old school, camping and hanging out. I wonder what it will be like 10 years from now — and people wishing they were there back in the early days. Definitely a destination weekend worth checking out!

What I find interesting is that photo of the model running in a bikini is that it was shot during a Vogue Netherlands shoot. That alone puts into perspective of why she was running in a bikini like that. Everyone gets upset over everything. The internet is only good for getting people butt hurt over something.

When I competed as a rower we had to undergo gender testing – a cheek swab. I believe this was because I was at an international IOC sanctioned event and presumably it is still done although that was ages ago :o) Seems simple and non-invasive enough. My vote would be that you get to compete in whatever gender your chromosomes are, regardless of how you self-identify. In this particular case it is easy to argue that if the hormone levels are attained naturally she should be allowed to compete. The argument that she *could* have an advantage is no different than someone who adapts to altitude better than others or who can handle a greater training load. I’m glad I don’t have to make these decisions!

This race has always been on my bucketlist. Road or not, it looks to be a beautiful race.
…the price tag will always keep me away though. I’ve read the section on why it costs so much, but it’s just not something I will ever be able to justify.Reference
