Ultramarathon Daily News | Tues, May 28
IRF/TWIR: All the trail and ultramarathon results from this weekend. Bummer about Francois, new WR for the 100 mile on a treadmill, and is the cancellation of San Juan Solstice a harbinger of things to come this summer?
Sh*tshow: It sounds like the Pinelands 50k/50M in Maine was a mess this past weekend. Runners off course, messed up results, and a lot of unhappy runners posting online. I wasn’t there, but already have three emails from angry runners.
iRunFar/Laney: David writes about the importance of power hiking in a trail ultramarathon scenario. If you’ve never seen Laney power hike in person, it’s really impressive.
Skurka: With ski resorts open thru August(!), maybe it’s time to learn a bit more about crampons and ice axes.
YouTube: Ever wondered how athlete contracts and sponsorships work? This is a great video by a marketing whiz on what exactly goes on.
Speaking of snow and crazy weather, here are some tips to remember for early summer hiking/trail running.
Film: New trail film Human Powered looks like it highlights the trail then digs deep into what it takes to put on a trail race in beautiful Vancouver, BC. Anxious to see the full release…this looks like a neat perspective.
Site: New bra review coming this week and new episode posting Thurs/Fri. Stay tuned.
Long weekend, short news day. What happened?
