URP Daily News Briefing Monday, June 25

In addition to the URP Daily News that’s published each morning, I’ll be recording the URP Daily News Briefing each day (maybe?) that’ll go into a bit more depth with some of the issues covered in the online edition.

Please let me know what you think of the audio format below. I’d like to still direct comments about the actual topics to the Daily News page.

I like the audio version of the daily news. Allows me to hear more of your thoughts on the articles you link to daily and then if I am so intrigued I can go read it. It is a great compliment to it.

Enjoyed it. I don’t have much time to read daily news so being able to listen on the way to work is great! The intro music threw me off. I triple checked to make sure I hadn’t clicked on Another Mother Runner podcast. That was a little weird. Lol.

  Thanks. A few people have commented on the music. It’s just a royalty-free track I plopped in there for the first episode.

    Maybe someone mentioned it but that music is the same that the AMR (Another Mother Runner) podcast uses. Not a huge deal but just wanted to point it out. Great show. I love the daily news and I’m happy to both read and listen to it.

This is excellent, please keep it coming! Its the perfect length for my short recovery runs. I have to admit that I dont always click on the links in the news, and today was no exception, but getting to listen to you explain stuff made me go back and read a couple! Liked the upbeat little jingle also! Thank you for all your time and effort in putting together the best podcast channel out there

I like the format. I don’t have much time to read and it’s nice to be able to listen to what’s going on. However, if possible you may want to try doing the daily news on a separate channel from the interviews and regular podcasts. If I want to find an old interview with someone I imagine it would be difficult to wade through all the daily news posts as it builds up.

I really enjoyed the URP daily news edition to the podcast. Great job, definitely keep it. Although you do happen to use the same intro music as The Gearist YouTube channel. Not sure who was using it first or if that even matters but just wanted to give a heads up. Thank you!

Thanks for this! I’m a “wannabe” ultrarunner (there IS at least one 50K in my future) and a frequent listener of your show. You’ve introduced me to many inspiring people, including Sarah Lavender Smith, whose book I’m currently reading. I enjoyed this little news tidbit and would continue listening to more should you decide to make them an ongoing thing; so long as you keep posting great interviews with your fellow ultrarunners! My only beef, and it’s a teensy one: That intro/outro music. It’s the same one they use on the Another Mother Runner podcast, and every time I listen to that show I hear that whistling tune in my head for hours afterward! 😂 No biggie. (And I see now that someone else made the same comment. It kind of cracks me up, to be honest!) Speaking of music, I like your current intro and outro, but I’d love to hear some more by Matt Flaherty and I REALLY like the song about it being a good day (I forget the artist). Keep up the good work!

Love the idea, Eric. Definitely should continue the audio for daily news briefings.

However, I already struggle to keep up with the regular URP interviews… I think it would be best to have the daily news in a separate podcast feed, otherwise I’d get overwhelmed!

I loved the daily briefing! I echo comments about not having much time to read internet stuff, so I often miss your daily posts, but I’d definitely listen to the briefing regularly. I like the improvised discussion you had with yourself at times, i.e. not just reading from your post. Would LOVE to see more. The length was good too, and you could even go longer (but I prefer podcasts that are at least 20+ minutes because otherwise I have to fiddle around with my phone too often).
