Sarah and I sat down with Tropical John Medinger to talk about results and trends of 2014. What were the prevailing ideas in MUT running? Who stood out and who was the biggest surprise? What did you learn, what did you wear, and what exactly is the state of this sport?

I do a quick rundown of all 66 podcasts and 80+ guests, plus a recap of the major domestic races from the year.

We discuss what we should expect next year, who the big starts will be, will Africans make an appearance, and the big question: Will the ultra-mullet take over the world…

Thank you for a wonderful year. I listened this morning running through the rain with a headlamp at 5am in Indiana to get my run in before our kids wake up. I smiled as you said how you enjoy doing the same. Thank you for all your hard work. It’s enjoyed and more appreciated than I think you could realize. What was our favorite beer again?

Thanks for the year of work you guys have put in. I’ve enjoyed listening to you guys over this last year. Sarah and Ethan have been great co hosts this year and you hinted that we will hear from Scott soon, which will be fantastic.

He is currently the frontrunner on the TV show “Top Chef” and seems pretty interesting – one of the best young chefs in America, former drug addict, ultrarunner, etc. He brought up his ultrarunning on the show a couple episodes back and it obviously piqued my interest.
